Works Great with Slingbox
Whether you are looking for simple networking solution or want to extend your complete living room HDTV experience to another TV in your home, these products work great with your Slingbox.
Unless you own a Slingbox 500 with built-in Wi-Fi and a wireless router, you will need to find a way to connect your Slingbox to your home network. If your Slingbox and router are not located in the same room, or your house is not Ethernet wired, you have simple options for connecting your Slingbox without stringing unsightly wires through your home.
A powerline adapter uses the existing electrical wires within your home to establish a network connection.
How does it work?
The major benefit of powerline networking is that users can easily establish a network using your home's existing electrical wiring as the communication medium. There is no need to drill holes in walls or ceilings to route new wiring and, as a result, installation is quick, easy and relatively inexpensive.
If your Slingbox and router are in different rooms in your home, a power line adapter or wireless bridge may be the perfect solution for you! Here are some that we recommend.
- Powerline AV 200 Ultra (XAVB2001)
- 4-port Internet Adapter (XAVB1004)
- Powerline 200 Nano (XAVB2101)
Wireless Ethernet Bridges
A wireless Ethernet bridge uses Wi-Fi to make the connection between your Slingbox and your home network's router.
How does it work?
If you have a Wi-Fi network in your home you can use a single Wi-Fi bridge unit to connect your Slingbox. If you don't have Wi-Fi, a pair of wireless bridges can work together to create a Wi-Fi network that sends/receives data between your Slingbox and your home network's router.
